Today it was passports. Apparently, everybody wants to get their passports in the spring so they can flee the country in the summer. Or something. The first passport appointment opening isn't until June. At least, that's what most passport offices said. She found us an appointment for tomorrow at 1:30. I'm not sure where. Our other option was to go down and sit in the County Clerk's office until they noticed us, got suspicious, and took pictures. Then we could ask them to put those pictures in a little booklet, notarize it, and call it a passport. That would have worked for me, but she takes good care of me. Even with the appointment tomorrow, there's still the issue of turnaround time. Supposedly it takes about two to four weeks, although you can order "rush delivery". Yeah, you pay for that. Or, you can go to one of several high traffic cities where they have dedicated passport offices, but we're not in one of those. So, 1:30 it is. I just hope rush delivery doesn't hurt too much.
After we get the passports back we can submit for our Letters of Invitation. Once we've got those in hand we can apply for our visas by physically mailing our passports and LOIs to the foreign consulate! Who knows what the turnaround time on that is? I have faith, though. It'll all come about somehow.
I finally got my last reference lined up today. I think I'll be ready to submit my documents tomorrow. Also, I had too much coffee; I don't know if I'll sleep tonight. And we're getting up early and going riding in the morning! Pray for us.
